LITTLE TARHEEL II MOTORIZED HF ANTENNA (3,5 - 50MHz)

When properly installed on your vehicle this antenna will provide continuous coverage from 3.5 to 54 MHz with the supplied whip. VSWR:1,5:1, Power Rating: 200W P.E.P., 3/8-24 stud.

I tested the Little Tarheel II on 20m band. The antenna was installed 8m above the ground level, at an angle of 45 degrees to the vertical on the balcony. I made QSOs with GB2NSF 57/57 (2 el. beam antenna, 100W), GW8NP (windom antenna, 100W) 59/59 and IZ7NMD/M (monoband antenna 100W) 55/53. Please find the antenna pictures below:

I made also the QSOs on 80m band with SP1MWK from Kołobrzeg and SQ6ADL from Sulików.

The antenna is effective. I perform the test of this antenna mounted on a vehicle as soon as it will be possible. This solution is a very interesting alternative for the whip antennas used with the external tuners. The antenna consists of continuously variable loading coil driven by the motor. I became convinced that this antenna is not only a dummy load on the stick but allows you to make the interesting contacts using only 50W of power.
